FRIDAY, AUGUST 11


9 AM – Arma Homecoming Golf Tournament, $300 entry for 4-person scramble, Woodland Hills Golf Course, 2414 Horton St., Fort Scott. Prizes awarded for each flight. Lunch included, adult beverages available. Contact Russ Cramer for information, 620-704-3189 or rcramer@usd246.org

5 to 9 PM – Tickets for Saturday night drawing for prizes and cash, $1 per ticket, in front of veterans memorial

5 to 11 PM – VB Inflatables carnival, $10 armband

5 to 11 PM – American Legion Post 182 beer stand  

5 to 8 PM – Rollin' Nostalgia Cruise Night Car & Bike Show, downtown Arma, presented by Unique Metal Fabrication, Inc.. Chairmen Ira Reiken and Jack Alvested

8 to 11 PM – Nashville country & western recording artists Eli Alger & The Faster Horses. Sponsored by Black's Storage, Jay Hatfield
 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 12

7:30 AM – Registration for Run for Our Veterans 5K run in front veterans memorial, Arma City Park.  Pre-registration $25. Free T-shirt to first 50 registered runners.  $35 fee race day. Proceeds to benefit VetLinks

8 AM – Run for Our Veterans 5K run, start in front of Arma City Park. Medals awarded to first and second-place male and female winners in these age categories: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-plus

8 AM to ? – Vendor booths open, downtown Arma

9 AM to 7 PM – Tickets for Saturday night drawing for prizes and cash, $1 per ticket, in front of veterans memorial

9:30 AM – Children's Fun Parade. Decorated bicycles, pets and other novelties. Line up on east side of Washington and West Streets. All entrants receive a prize. 1st $25, 2nd $20, 3rd $15 for each age category: Age 5 & Under, 6-8, 9-12

 

10 AM – 77th Annual VJ Homecoming Parade, judged entries must line up by 9:30 a.m. at Northeast Elementary School. Float entries to be judged on capturing Homecoming theme, Liberty for All, workmanship and overall appearance. Chairpersons Mike and Barbara McLeod

PARADE FLOAT PRIZES: Float entries to be judged on capturing Homecoming theme “Liberty for All,” workmanship and overall appearance. 1st $500, 2nd  $250, 3rd $100. Chairpersons Mike and Barbara McLeod

Classic & Vintage Automobiles: Top 6 selected: 1st $40, 2nd $35, 3rd $30, 4th $25, 5th $20, 6th $15

Antique & Classic Tractors 1st $25, 2nd $20, 3rd $15

Motorcycles: 1st $25, 2nd $20, 3rd $15

SEK BED DERBY ENTRIES: Line up at Northeast Elementary. Parade entries judged on best theme and most creative, sponsored by Forever Flowers. Winners receive: 1st $500, 2nd $250, 3rd $100

 

10 AM to Noon – Cornhole tournament registration, Arma American Legion parking lot, 512 E. Main St., $40 per team entry, sponsored by Sons of the American Legion, chairperson Bryan Hoffman.

11 AM to 11 PM – VB Inflatables carnival. Purchase $10 wristbands in front of veterans memorial. Sessions: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and 6-11 p.m.

11 AM – 2nd annual  Southeast Kansas BED DERBY, You’ve made your bed, now race it! Teams of 5 will race in heats of two for two blocks in downtown Arma. Winners receive 1st $500, 2nd $250, 3rd $100.

 

Noon – CHILDREN’S GAMES, near grandstand. Chairperson Jayne Heim. Prizes for each event and age group are: 1st carnival mega pass, 2nd $10, 3rd $5

11 AM to 11 PM – American Legion beer stand

 

Noon – Cornhole Tournament begins, Arma American Legion. Cash prizes awarded based on number of teams.

 

2 PM – Women’s Rolling Pin Throwing Contest, sponsored by Mengarelli’s Italian Table. Ages 16 and older, Arma City Park shelter house. 1st $50, 2nd $40, 3rd $30, 4th $20, 5th $10

Women’s Nailing Driving Contest, ages 16 and older, shelter house. 1st $50, 2nd $40, 3rd $30, 4th $20, 5th $10

 

6 PM – CAKEWALK, near grandstand. Proceeds go to NHS FCCLA

7 PM – Heads and Tails Game, audience participation prior to prize drawing. Winner to receive $100, sponsored by Sami’s Legacy

 

7:30 PM – PRIZE DRAWING, thousands of dollars in cash and prizes, grandstand. Must be present to win! (see back pages for list of prizes and sponsors)

 

8 to 11 PM – Classic rock band TORN, sponsored by Fox Insurance, Paroitt Head Liquors and Wiseman Discount Tire

SUNDAY, AUGUST 13

9 to 11 SM – Kids' Fishing Derby, Hookie Park, south of Arma swimming pool, sponsored by Albers Marine of Arma and Arma Homecoming Association . Age categories: 6 and under, 7-10, 11-14. Prizes for all entrants.

11:30 AM – Registration for co-ed Bocce Tournament, north shelter house, Arma City Park, $5 per person for teams of two. Chairpersons Greg and Tracy Bogina

 

Noon – Arma VJ Homecoming Bocce Tournament, sponsored by Marrone’s Inc.

1st  $50 and two $10 Chicken Mary’s gift certificates

2nd $40 and two $10 Chicken Mary’s gift certificates

3rd $30 and two $10 Chicken Mary’s gift certificates

4th $25 and two $10 Chicken Mary’s gift certificates

5th $20 and two $10 Chicken Mary’s gift certificates

6th Two $10 Chicken Mary’s gift certificates

 

1:30 PM – Registration for Junior Bathing Beauty Contest, northwest corner of Arma City Park. No entry fee. Trophies awarded for top 3 boys and girls in these age divisions: 6 to 11 months, 1 year, 2 year old, 3 year old. Chairpersons Joyce Klinkon, Rita DeGruson and Cindy Neeley. Contestants must wear swimsuit attire.

 

2 PM – Junior Bathing Beauty Contest begins
